Day 31
My parents have arrived and it’s been a long day taking them out and about. After flying in from Bahrain, they love the cooler weather of 23 degrees compared to the 40 degrees, they are experiencing back in Bahrain at the moment. So, we took them to a few places to sightsee, looked into some interesting quirky little shops in the little towns nearby. We were also on the lookout for a few little bits and pieces to add to TGC to give it that final, special character. While looking around, I could not believe what I found in one of the shops.
A “Rumtoph” which literally means “Rum-pot”. And a traditional one!! Mum has one and I have been looking for a similar one for years and finally found one. It is used, to soak and keep layers of dried fruits with rum. It is how, I make my Christmas stollen. I soak the fruit in rum for many weeks or even months. I can’t wait to start using this one.
Some more bed linen and towels have arrived, the delivery company seems to be sending everything slowly, so I think after another another two trips from them, we should be sorted.
My National Insurance number arrived, so there’s another tick off the To-Do list.
Two of my Cherry trees were not looking to good, so I gave them a bit of extra TLC and will keep an eye out for them.
I have started writing out a few would-be/could-be menus for my First Dinner Experience.
I have also been looking at Green Houses and what we can and cannot grow together. It will be lovely to one day soon, have our own veggie patches, some fruit and chickens. And to be able to cook with the produce of the Seasons.
Its still light outside. We have only just passed the June Solstice, so we will be able to enjoy these long Summer days for still some time. Sitting out in the garden and taking in the beautiful views is just breathtaking.
