Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I would live in the country side on a little farm. Not me, the city girl that always loved (and still does), noise, hustle and bustle, loads of people around, shops, cafes and all the on goings of a city. Five months on and I feel I have been transformed to the extent that I cannot even explain it. Looking out of every window of my house is the view of beautiful grass, trees, birds, (a grouse visits every day, I’m convinced its the same one), deer (I see one as I write), rabbits, our neighbours sheep. The peace and tranquility fused in with the sound of wildlife is a totally separate piece of music to the ears. Some would say as we get older we yearn for these surroundings and atmosphere more, but I know of many young folk that live around the area that would not want to leave their home in the country side for any other place. Credit goes to my husband Reza who for many years had wanted to move to a small country side farm. It was his idea to begin with. The deal breaker was that if we found somewhere close to the city but in the Country side, we would go for it. This way anytime I wanted the feel of the city, I was close by and yet still be in the country side. I find myself now wanting much less of the city and more of the country side. Does that make sense.
We are investing in a sit on lawn mower to keep the grass at bay in some areas of the land, as I do like the idea of some parts being a wild garden for the bees and other insects. We can then start growing our own vegetable beds. And trees ……..
Cherries have always been one of my favourite fruits. Growing up in Bahrain, there were only imported cherries that cost an arm and a leg and on the odd occasion when my parents bought them they were not that juicy and tasty like the ones my Oma (Grandmother in German) would keep for us when we travelled to Germany for our school holidays. Being half German, my love for cherries, Schwarzwalder Kirsch Torte (Black Forest Cake) and the many other delicious cherry bakes all comes to my mind. And with planting my first thirty cherry trees and many more to be planted I want to create my own sweet delight plus more in the near future. Watch this space.
I am still waiting on the approval of my application for the stall at the Tring Market on 26th June, hopefully will get some feed back in the next day or two, perhaps the delay being because of the Bank Holiday.
The A to Z Experience Retreat at TGC will be ready tomorrow. I have almost got it together.
Lovely writing, my friend 🤩
