Day 76
Our second dinner experience evening is just around the corner, and the checklist is all set for the event. Two young people will be assisting us on the night, and the menu has been finalised. All the final items for the table have arrived, and we'll be sending out emails to the guests today. We're looking very forward to the evening.
We had one last apple-picking day, and this time it was at our neighbours' place. They've had a big apple harvest this year and generously allowed us to pick some as well. After a over a half-hour of picking, we returned with a full wheelbarrow of apples. We then embarked on a team effort of washing, peeling, and chopping the apples, resulting in three huge pans of thick apple mousse for baking. The remaining apples will either be chopped or sliced and frozen for future baking.
I've taken the step of becoming a member of one of the large wholesale companies that sell baking supplies in bulk. This will make things much more convenient for me in the future, as all the supplies can be delivered right to my door. It will save me a lot of time that I used to spend running around to different places.
I've also noticed that when baking my most recent breads, I'm enjoying the process of doing it by hand and baking it in the oven rather than using my bread maker. It's undoubtedly more time-consuming, but I find the end result to be much better. This time, I've fermented a dough with malted whole grain flour, and it should be ready to bake tonight!
