Day 81
It's definitely autumn; I spotted a Robin, my favourite bird, but it flew away before I could take a photo.
Since I've started preparing dinners from home, the Council advised me to fill in a form in the FSA (Food Standards Agency) diary every time I have one. When I initially looked through it, it seemed quite overwhelming with many tasks, but it's turned out to be quite simple and straight forward. It's often the case when you receive a big, fat file with lots of papers or documents, and you just think, "Oh no!" However, I've sorted out what I need to do, and it's manageable.
We have another couple staying at the attached cottage this weekend, which will be lovely! My favourite part is putting together a hamper for them with items from the area and some homemade baked goodies. I also enjoy writing out our welcome note.
I've been busy preparing apple sauce, chopping apples, and working on everything apple-related. As I mentioned before, it's apple season, and the aroma in the kitchen is amazing!
While I've been occupied with my tasks, Reza has been installing a large sink and a water heater in the almost brand-new utility room. It looks fantastic so far, although there's still some work to be done. It will be a great addition once the machines are all properly set up. Back in Bahrain, most people always have two kitchens: the main kitchen and the "dirty kitchen" for handling large pots, food preparation, like chopping, cutting, and peeling, and for cooking things like fish with lots of spices. This keeps the smell although lovely, from sticking to the rest of the house and lingering for ages. This utility room will serve as the equivalent of our "dirty kitchen."
I've sent out all my notices on Facebook and Instagram regarding the market on Saturday! It's supposed to be a cold, beautiful, and sunny day.
And finally, our pheasant who I pretend, is always the same one, came to visit yet again, for the first time in a while. He always looks so peaceful!
